Turning 30 in the dark!

Well, I am officially 30 now. It came and went like nothing happened. I LOVE my birthday. It's the only day of the year that is completely MINE! Every time the clock reads 9:16 - I remind Lee, it's my birthday. Of course, I do the same for 12:16 for his, 6:18 for Ann Alyse's and 4:24 for Avery's. I was super excited about turning 30 because it's a big event. Well, it was, but it wasn't. I'm not a big deal maker over getting older. I just love my birthday. Oh, I should mention that I LOVE cake and presents, too. Well, since the hurricane had come through only three days prior, we had no electricity and I really didn't feel very birthday festive. Lee called the restaurant that I always ask to go to on my birthday - PF Changs - and there was one on the west side of Houston that was open. It was open of course because they never lost power on that side of town. So, we got our cold showers, tried to look as decent as possible and drove the hour drive to eat! It was wonderful sitting in the AC and lights...the food was great, too! There was a Sam's next door, so Lee stopped in and bought the LAST birthday cake they had and three dozen miniature roses - red, pink and white. I did get presents from Lee and the girls. Did I mention I LOVE presents? Lee got me a flat iron - which I had asked for - but didn't know what size to get so it's back at the store now! :-) We're going to buy the right size for a third the price online! I also got a year's subscription to an online digital scrapbooking site - Smilebox. I love to have scrapbooks, but do not have the time any more for it, so I'm hoping this is the solution. I did one as a test from our SeaWorld trip. I think it turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself! Anyway, happy 30th birthday to me...late! Maybe 40 will be a little more festive! :-)

  • I would have pitched a fit if the hurricane had spoiled my birthday! It sounds like Lee did a good job, though! Happy late 30th, and here's hoping next year you celebrate with electricity!

  • Okay, I don't think I have your correct email address, so hopefully you check this! We got the clothes! Thanks so much! Sadie loves them.
