Fun in Ft. Worth!

Last weekend we loaded up the suburban and traveled the "short" 4 hours to Ft. Worth to visit family and friends. I say short with a grimace because what should have taken 4 hours turned into 7 1/2 hours! Yeah, no kidding! We decided to stop off in the Woodlands on our way to do some shoe shopping for Ann Alyse. One detail we forgot was that it was tax-free weekend in TX. BIG mistake! Everyone was out school shopping. I will NOT be shopping tax-free weekend again until my children have children! HA!
So, we got on our way again and made it to Madisonville and stopped to eat a late lunch. As we were finishing up, the bottom fell out! Lee was forced to run to the car and drive it as close to the door as possible. He ran Ann Alyse in to the nearest door, threw the diaper bag in and then Avery and I jumped in quickly. It took us a little while to get dried off before we took off again. It rained and it poured on us for quite a while. We did, however, make it to our destination before the day was done!
We were able to see my great Aunt Doris and Uncle Dave. We stayed at their home in Flowermound. Ann Alyse got her own bedroom and had so much fun roaming around and playing with all the toys. Avery was not neglected...she got lots of sweet hugs and kisses all weekend long!
We also got to see my best friend, Andrea, her hubby, Gabe, and their 2 year old daughter, Katie. It was Katie's 2nd birthday and Gabe's 30th! They share a birthday and we got to celebrate both with them. Katie had a fun Elmo party and Gabe had a fun surprise pool party (as in a pool table, not a swimming pool!). We went to church with them on Sunday, out to eat at Chili's afterwards, then back in the car to come home. This time we made it in 4 1/2 hours - now that was more like it!
